Brides Against Breast Cancer

In America every twelve minutes one woman dies of cancer and five are diagnosed with breast cancer, the reason why the Brides against Breast Cancer is a project endorsed by the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation, committed to collect donations to fund many special memories requested by patients each year.
This is not an only women's campaign. Making memories encourage all individuals, groups, families, students and companies to join in this effort to fulfill wishes.
This goal is achieved by means of a number of activities throughout the year such as gown sale events, envelope bridal showers, and the Pink Envelope wedding reception, the foundation collects donations to fund a noble cause.
The Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation has a praiseworthy task: to give metastatic breast cancer patients an opportunity to fulfill whatever wish or dream in their mind, hence the name of the funding campaign. This special time is what they call "Making Memories" along with their friends and families.
The Pink Envelope Bridal Shower is a tradition on behalf of the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation and the money collected through pink envelopes donations and the Nationwide Tour of Gowns make it possible for many of those patient's dreams thanks to generous donations that anyone can make to the association.
"Find the gown of your dreams and make a wish come true" is the slogan of the gown's tour that enables brides to get their wedding gown at special prices while contributing to about 32 fundraising campaigns to make the dreams of breast cancer patients come true.
However, Brides against Breast Cancer is more than a charity conducted by the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation. They also educate the public and create awareness of breast cancer by providing information about the numerous resources to understand the importance of a prompt diagnosis and the care of the patients who are suffering from this disease.
In addition, the foundation provides all the support and information available to both breast cancer patients and their families. With information, patients can continue fighting against this condition with optimism and new volunteers join the cause every day, bringing their personal initiative and creativity to fulfill the mission of Making Memories.
As a matter of fact, this association was founded in Portland, Oregon, during 1998 as an initiative of Fran Hansen and Anna Nelson, mother and daughter respectively. Fran was diagnosed with cancer the year before and after their idea to co-found Making Memories, their story was aired nationwide by MSNBC, Martha Stewart Living, Oprah, and Redbook, as well as published by popular magazines such as Woman's Day, Newsweek, and the Shape Magazine.
Fran and Anna are committed to aggressively promote breast cancer health awareness. In 2005 the Modern Bride magazine gave them a recognition as Trendsetters of the Year, and they were also honored as "Women Who Make a Difference" by the Family Circle magazine.
In their effort to create cancer awareness and help women, the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation has not only an online Spanish version, but also a number of important sponsors and friends supporting the fight against cancer and the fulfillment of dreams.
Anyone can contribute with fundraising. You can donate money through the Pink Envelope campaign or donate a wedding gown. There are other options to participate with the foundation including matching gifts, donating stock, becoming a double ribbon donor, or granting an entire wish whether through the Pink Envelope Project, Diamonds for Dreams, or by means of a tribute or cash.
Donating to the Pink Envelope Project (PEP) makes you a VIP volunteer within the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation for only $25 a year, helping to fund special wishes requested each year for women suffering from this disease.
