Mastering Your Wedding Make-Up

Blog / Mastering Your Wedding Make-Up

Brides consider make-up to be an important aspect of their overall look for their wedding day. Many even go to professionals on the big day to make sure that they have achieved that oh-so-perfect look. But brides can also do their own make-up or have a friend do it for them. There are just a few tips to keep in mind when "putting on your face" for your wedding day.
With foundation, it's a good idea to start with a primer. This will help the foundation adhere to the skin longer and will also fill in tiny lines and pores. When applying the foundation use the lightest formula that your complexion requires. Follow this up with concealer. Powder usually isn't needed but can be useful when pictures are getting taken. Apply only to the T-zone - forehead, nose, and chin as this is where the camera's flash in most likely to reflect.
When decorating your lips, first apply a waxy balm and allow it to set in for about thirty minutes then fill in the centre of the lips with a pencil that is the same shade as the lipstick. After that, apply a loose face powder with a small brush. Then apply the lipstick and finally, define the edges in pencil.
When colouring the eyes, start with an eye primer across the lash line and in the crease. Foundation or concealer will also work with this. Using a neutral shadow, gently press it all over the eye from lash to brow. By doing this three times, the colour will stay for a very long time. With a medium shadow, line the eyes, curl the lashes, and apply mascara to top and bottom lashes. Finish the look with a bit of concealer in the inner corner of the undereye area; set it with loose powder.
With these few tips, you will achieve a professional look while saving the money you would have spent at an expensive salon.
