There are few things more romantic than the look of ancient Rome. Brides today are finding more and more ways to incorporate this dreamy, whispy look into their wedding day. Starting of course, with what they wear.
For dresses, it's easy to look like a queen or princess with many of the different Roman styles. A single shoulder strap and deluxe draping transform silk-jersey into a cinematic toga dress. For those brides that are all about the dramatic effect, a Corinthian silk-taffeta column dress adds flare and beauty with a cape and an embroidered belt. Asymmetrical pleats and a flowing sash will give a one-shoulder chiffon gown a heavenly fluidity. And for those brides that want to play Venus on their big day, a silk-charmeuse gown with a deep V-neckline and split sleeves are sure to do the trick!
When choosing shoes, nothing will top off the ancient Rome look more than strappy, glossy stiletto. These shoes pay tribute to the strappy shoes once worn by queens and princesses. Choose a shoe that straps all the way up to mid-calf or one that stops at the ankle. Either look is sure to work!
Jewellery is a cinch with this look. Choose things such as gold-plated bangles with ionic details. Arm bracelets will also complete this very romantic look. And don't forget to adorn your hair with jewellery as well. Trade in the traditional tiara for a gold-plated string of ivy that is sure to make your hair sparkle.
There are many little touches that can be added for those that want to be a Roman bride. This time period was already so romantic, it's not hard to incorporate it with some modern touches for a beautiful finish!
