Fall is a wonderful time to plan your wedding for. The days are crisp and clear, the colours are gorgeous and the aromas of harvest are in the air. The natural beauty of the season will help enhance a beautiful wedding that implies simplicity and elegance.
Outdoors is a fabulous place to have the ceremony in autumn. The falling leaves and the beautiful colours will do all of your decorating for you! Locations such as vineyards and parks are beautiful places to hold the wedding ceremony. Of course, the fall theme can also be carried indoors if you choose to get married in a church, a mill, or a beautiful inn. The reception should be held indoors as those autumn nights can get a bit chilly but again, you can always bring the colours indoors with beautiful decorating.
Colours for an autumn wedding are an obvious choice and should stick to the reds, oranges, browns, and yellows. However, don't be afraid to add accents of bright blues or other bold colours to add to the decor. Use things that are in season for decorating purposes such as pumpkins, gourds, wheat sheaves and apples. It can also be a lot of fun to use jack-o-lanterns as your centrepieces. This will add to the fall theme as well as create ambience with the candlelight.
Fall flowers contain beautiful colours. Consider using roses, daisies, sunflowers, mums, and fall leaves for bouquets and decorations. Herbal bouquets are also very unique and can also be quite beautiful.
When you choose the dresses for the bridesmaids and the bride, try to incorporate long sleeves as the days and nights may be fairly cool. Shawls and wraps can also be beautiful additions to any dress.
Go simple when planning the menu. Things such as hearty stews, a great cut of meat with seasonal vegetables on the side, freshly baked bread and crisp salads will be great for an autumn wedding! If you're having a dessert table, place items on there such as spiced cake or pumpkin cheesecake.
There is no limit when planning a fall wedding. The colours alone provide enough canvas for everything else to just fall into place! This is a gorgeous time to celebrate your wedding so enjoy the natural surroundings and use them to your full advantage!
