New Trends in Receptions
Blog / New Trends in Receptions
Couples have been stepping away from tradition when it comes to planning their wedding receptions. Some of these trends have even involved things such as table shapes and linens.
White linens have always been the traditional coverings for chairs and tables. But wedding planners are starting to steer away from having traditional white and are instead opting for using the same bold colour for all of the tables and chairs or using complementary colours. This is also a great way to infuse the wedding colours into the reception. Covering the table with varying shades of green and then using taupe or sage for the napkins is a very nice touch. This look can be taken to another level of elegance by lining the head table with Casablanca lilies and roses and beautiful green votives can be placed on the tables to give the room a nice soft glow.
Another big trend right now is to make chocolate brown the main colour. This colour is super hot right now! The complementary colour can be a light blue or pink. The whole wedding can be done in these colours, using everything from bridesmaid's dresses to party favours to really complete the look!
The trend has also been backing away from the round tables that in the past have always been the traditionally used table shape. Couples, caterers and wedding planners are now starting to use long square tables, which can seat up to twelve. Another option is to use different tables of different shapes and sizes. This will give the room a nice contrasting look.
These are just a couple of ideas for new trends emerging to give receptions a more modern look and feel. Don't be afraid to play around with different ideas to find out what you like best.

I have been singing the praise of using linen to advance your theme for years. Its a great way to liven up a boring room or the draw the eye inward in you are stuck with an ugly room. Well done linen can also lessen the need for more elaborate centerpieces.
