Programs are a nice way to not only outline the sequence of events in a wedding ceremony, they also allow for the guests to feel a part of it. Below are some tips on creating the perfect program.
Make sure you don't overdo it with the programs. Add some nice personal touches such as a quote or the couple's favourite poem but don't include long stories about how you first met or how "your song" came to be.
Also make sure that guests will be able to read the program. If the ceremony is going to be held in a dimly lit room, choosing light-coloured paper and dark ink is a good choice. As much as you might think that lovely script printed in a light grey might be, a beautiful program is useless if no one can read it. It's possible to have exquisite programs that are also legible.
Double-check and triple-check for typos. Proofread the programs as closely as you would your invitations and look for anything such as names spelled incorrectly, things that have been left out, and any misprints.
Make sure you order enough. It's a good rule of thumb to order as many programs as you do invitations. You don't need to worry about ordering more for mementos as not everyone who will be invited will be present to get a program. Make sure that you do keep one as a memento though. More than anything else from your wedding, it will remind you of exactly what happened on the big day.
