The Geometry of Flowers

Blog / The Geometry of Flowers

When choosing the bridal bouquet, there are so many things to consider such as the type of flowers used, the colour, and the size. A new trend playing into the hands of brides is the shape of the bouquet. It's becoming very popular to match the shape of the bouquet to the shape of the dress or to have it contrast the shape of the dress.
A round bouquet emphasizes a full gown and can contrast beautifully with a sleeker one. Try Icelandic poppies, roses, anemones, or any other flower with spherical blossoms.
A crescent shaped bouquet will have the striking effect of the flowers falling around your hands. Any flowers that can be wired to create the desired look will do as will dangling flowers such as bell-shaped nerines.
An oval bouquet that is approximately a foot long will make a very bold statement. The clean shape should be defined with a single colour and can be a stunning contrast to an ornate gown. These speak volumes for a modern affair.
A pageant bouquet is similiar to the bouquets that pageant contestants carry in the crook of their arms. This long-stemmed bouquet is usually about eighteen inches long for a formal event but can be shortened for a more casual event.
A cascade bouquet forms a waterfall of flowers and will look exquisite with a mermaid gown. Phalaenopsis orchids make for a beautiful waterfall bouquet.
While any of these bouquets will look stunning with any gown, brides seem to be coordinating the two together these days to create a single, gorgeous look.
