When it comes to deciding what type of foods you wish to serve at your reception, you may be wondering what would be the best. Honestly, what you choose is a matter of preference and has quite a bit to do with what type of reception you plan.

If you only wish to serve a few appetizers for a guest list of fewer than 50 you can always choose such items as gourmet cheese and cracker platter, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktails, mini stuffed potatoes, and a fresh fruit platter.

From here, you can plan on various menus if you desire more than just appetizers. A sit down menu can include such food items as a salad, your choice of bread, Hawaiian chicken, blackened chicken tarragon, or even salmon. You can also decide to have champagne, wine, or other drinks to accompany the meal.

You may wish to have a buffet style menu instead of a sit down meal, which can include some of the same yummy dishes.

The easiest way to decide what foods to serve is to contact a catering service and see what they suggest. Many times, they have ideas that you have not thought of since they serve foods for all kinds of events.

After you have chosen the menu, just sit back and let the catering service do the rest. This is of course, your special day, take a break and enjoy what a catering service can do for you.
