Blog / Popular Wedding Dress Lengths

Most women believe that wearing a wedding gown all the way to the floor is the only way to go, however, even with wedding dresses there are various lengths you can choose. Think about the type of wedding you desire, formal, informal, themed, on the beach, etc… then choose a length for your wedding gown that is appropriate.

Ankle length is of course, the one that the hem goes all the way down to your ankle. This is a very formal length, which can be either form fitting or have a full skirt.

Then there is the Ballerina length. The hem of this one also goes almost to your ankle. However, the ballerina is a full skirt and is worn for many outdoor weddings.

The Floor length hem gently touches the floor all the way around. It can be either full or form fitting as well, just like the ankle length. This is one length that should not be worn for an outdoor wedding since your gown will be touching the ground.

The gown where the hem falls between the knee and the ankle is known as the intermission. This wedding dress is mainly worn for causal or semi-formal weddings.

The Hi-Lo hem in the front in just like the intermission, however, the back hem falls to the floor or can even be longer and kind of drag along the floor.

The knee length is of course where the hem falls just below the knee.

Both the Hi-Lo and the knee length are often seen worn by bridesmaids.

The tea length hem stops at the shin. This one is a bit conservative but is a more modern style.

The miniskirt is a daring wedding dress length. Of course, this hem falls somewhere on the thigh according to your taste.
