Exactly what is a small wedding? You will hear all kinds of answers to this question according to the person you are asking. Small can be the amount of guests invited, which can also vary, the amount of participates in the bridal party, or it can also mean the atmosphere of the wedding.

When it comes to the amount of guests some people believe that a small wedding is one with less than 100, while others believe it is when fewer than 50 guests attend. When you are discussing the number of persons included in the wedding party many conclude that for a small wedding there is only a Maid of Honor and Best Man, while others have no attendants at all. Then it comes to the atmosphere. Many believe that with a small wedding the atmosphere is more relaxed than and not as formal as larger weddings.

If you have decided to have a small wedding, you will more than likely receive diverse reactions from family and friends. Some family members and friends may feel like you are leaving them out of your special day. Remember, whether you realize it or not your parents especially your mother has dreamed of her son or daughters wedding and if you make the decision to have a small wedding, she may feel totally left out.

Weddings have always been social events where the entire family, some you have never met, colleagues, and friends of the family attend. Not only do they attend, but also many close family members and friends have the desire to help with making arrangements, choosing the wedding attire, and other aspects of the wedding and reception.

Deciding on a small wedding will have to be your decision. Just remember, this is your wedding and your special day. There are ways to have small wedding without hurting anyone’s feelings. You could always just elope and invite only close family members and friends.
