Blog / Royal Weddings: 1840 to 1947 Exhibition

Queen Elizabeth II is having her diamond anniversary this year and as part of the celebration, there will be various displays on exhibition at Windsor Castle. This is a wonderful way to celebrate not only the Queen’s diamond anniversary but also royal weddings from 1840 to 1947.

One of the most spectacular exhibits will be two slices of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s wedding cake. Beginning on April 27 you will be able to see these remarkable slices of wedding cake in their original cardboard box. One is a plain cardboard box while the other is silver both are marked with the words "Buckingham Palace February 10, 1840".

Other items will also be on display from the Royal Collection trust including a tiny silver shoe decoration from the Queen’s wedding cake, rare gifts, photographs, jewelry, and documents from the five generations of royal weddings.

The exhibit is sure to touch of the heart’s of many that know true love survives and so do the many memories that are not only kept as memorable but in our souls.

The exhibit is an awesome way in which to show love in its finest attire while celebrating the never-ending love story of the Queen and Prince Philip’s 60th wedding anniversary this coming November.

The exhibition will open to the public on April 27 until March 2008 at the Drawings Gallery, Windsor Castle.
