You may be really excited to be chosen as the best man for your best friend’s or brother’s wedding. Of course, you know you will be standing there by his side on the big day, listening to him when he gets cold feet, and of course be toasting him at the bachelor party, but do you realize there are more duties that you are also under your responsibility. Along with this responsibility comes expense.

The Duties of being a Best Man include:
* Planning and paying for the bachelor party
* Renting or purchasing a tuxedo and paying for fittings
* Attending the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner
* Bring the wedding gifts to the ceremony or the reception
* Help the groom dress for the ceremony
* Ensure he gets to his wedding on time
* Be in charge of the bride’s ring until it is time to hand them over to the ring bearer.
* Give the priest, pastor, or person performing the ceremony a sealed envelope from the bride and groom with the fee for the services.
* Sign the marriage license
* Sit on the left side of the groom during the reception
* The best man is the first one to toast the bride and groom at the reception
* Either drive the bride and groom to the airport or hotel or arrange for their transportation such as renting a limo.
* Dance with the maid of honor during the reception.
* Collect any and all formal wear and return to the rental company
* It is also the duties of the best man and maid of honor to ensure that all wedding gifts make it to the bride and grooms home.
