The hottest trend seen in wedding dresses in 2006 was diamond or rhinestone worn as hair accessories to accompany the chosen gown. The gown itself in 2006 was not the plain white wedding dress of the past, there were new and vibrant colors added such as deep red, brilliant orange, or even dark chocolate brown. When it came to informal wedding gowns, two colors were often seen instead of one. These new vibrant colors were often paired with beautiful pastel colors such as light sky blue, cream, and pink.

This gave the bride so many more options for not only her accessories to be worn on her special day but also gave her more chooses for decorations that would not clash with her attire.

Another trend seen in many weddings was the added touch of metallic embroidery and fabrics sewn into the wedding gowns. This trend was much like a retro look of Vogue in 2005, which gave the bride a glistening effect.

Monogramming was very popular however; it was more in the fashion sense of logo’s presented by the couple instead of the bride alone. These designs were often incorporated by designers into the attire that was worn by both the bride and groom.

Summer wedding dresses were a bit more sophisticated than those of the past whereas a theme was chosen in 2006 that was the center of all decorations and attire worn during the wedding. During the summer of 2006, the colors that were seen more often were blue, lilac, pink, and yellow. The gown skirt was often seen in one color with the bodice usually white or cream.

Winter of 2006 saw wedding gowns in deep red and even black. Many of these gowns adorned a fake fur collar or long fake fur coat as an added accessory.

2007 is just beginning; we will need to keep our eyes open for the hottest trends in wedding attire to learn what will be top of the list this year.
