Young Attendants At Your Wedding

There are many reasons that you may have young attendants at your wedding ceremony and reception. In some cases these people may be direct relatives to you such as brothers or sisters. On the other hand, some of your guests may want to bring their children along with them. Regardless of the reason, children and younger guests attend weddings time and time again. Some couples perceive this as being a problem, but the fact of the matter is that it does not have to be. If you know how to handle young attendants at your wedding you should never run into any problems.

The first question that most people ask themselves about young attendants at a wedding is, how young is too young. The majority of people love kids and like to have them around. But when it comes to a wedding you will have to use your judgment when trying to decide how young you will go. You must remember that some children are so young that they may begin to cry at awkward moments during your wedding. This is never really a good thing and you should keep it in mind when making a decision. In addition, also remember that young kids can have a short attention span. So no matter if it is the ceremony or the reception, it's likely that they will get bored after some time doing nothing more than sitting around.

If you have kids that are going to be in the actual wedding it can be a good idea for them to attend the rehearsal. This will give them the chance to learn about what is going on and also get some practice along the way. You have to remember, that they are only kids. If you let them practice their part before hand you will have a better chance of everything going off smoothly. In addition, it will help to cut back on stage fright as well; something that is a common problem in younger children.

The flower girl is probably the most common younger member of any ceremony. They are usually between the age of 4 and 8, and are as cute as ever when they are walking down the aisle. In addition, the ring bearer is often times a little boy that is about the same age as the flower girl.

In both cases, these two members are very important to any ceremony. Even though they are only kids, they hold very big roles in the ceremony.

Some couples also have other tasks that young children can take on during the ceremony. These include such things as reading a prayer or singing a song. The most common reason for adding these parts, outside of necessity, is to ensure no child is neglected. For instance, if there are two girls that would be great flower girls, only one can do it. In turn, you can allow one to say a prayer instead.

At the reception young attendants usually blend in quite nicely. Even though they may be a bit bored, you may find that they simply hang around their parents the entire time. One thing that you must remember is that if you are going to invite some children to the reception, you must invite them all. Nothing will ruffle feathers worse than telling somebody not to bring their kids, and then letting everybody else do it.

Overall, young attendants are an important part of a lot of weddings. As long as you make up your mind early on concerning age and attendance you should never run into any problems.
