When it comes to the wedding reception, no two are alike. The fact of the matter is that every couple has their own taste, and they want to do their own thing. Each wedding reception will have its own unique look and feel.

For the most part, the more traditional the wedding, the more classic features that the reception will have. There are some wedding reception traditions that have been around for years and will always be around. But at the same time there are also a few that are not as common as they once were.

At a typical champagne and cake wedding reception there is a basic outline and order that is generally followed throughout.

At the very beginning, the receiving lines will be formed, and guests will begin to socialize with one another, often over cocktails. This is just the beginning stage, the one where everyone loosens up and gets use to each others company.

From there, champagne is served and toasts are made. The best man will go first, and then the rest of the toasts will fall into line in accordance.

At this point the wedding cake is then cut which is one of the most exciting parts of the ceremony. Immediately following the cutting of the cake, the bride will then throw her bouquet and the groom will throw the garter.

Finally, the bride and groom will either stay until the end or in many cases make an early exit for their honeymoon.

Another popular wedding reception option is a cocktail and dinner set up.

At the beginning of this type of wedding reception, cocktails are served and then the receiving line is formed. After this, dinner is either served or a buffet takes place.

Next, the parents may give blessings, and toasts are made by the best man, the honor attendant, and other well wishers.

Everybody then eats dinner and enjoys a bit of socializing. After dinner, the dancing starts. After a bit of dancing the bride tosses the bouquet and the groom the garter. Next comes the cutting of the cake, and dessert is then served.

Finally, more dancing concludes the night. The newlyweds have the option of either staying until the end of the wedding reception, or making an early getaway for their honeymoon.

Both of these wedding receptions options are quite popular. The choice is yours!
