Wedding Ceremony Flowers
Articles / / Wedding Ceremony Flowers
Without flowers, a wedding would not be complete. For many years flowers have acted as the centerpiece of both the wedding ceremony and the reception. Flowers can go along way to setting the mood and the atmosphere of any venue. This holds true whether you are having your wedding outdoors or indoors, whether it has a formal or an informal set up. Flowers are perfect for any wedding.
Since there are so many different types of wedding ceremony style, there is a vast array of floral arrangements to choose from. If you are going to be having an outdoor wedding in the summer chances are that you are going to want different flowers than if you were going to have an indoor wedding in the winter. There are many factors that go into choosing the floral arrangement for any wedding. Everything from the venue to the season to the marrying couple affects the type of flowers that will be used.
For some people the choice of flowers is something that comes last. While some may think that they are not at all important, the bottom line is that flowers can do wonders. You can take the same venue and completely change the atmosphere by using flowers in a variety of different ways. Even though they may not seem like a large part of the wedding, without them a room may feel quite empty.
The first thing that you must consider when picking out flowers is your budget. Like any other aspect of a wedding, there is money involved when choosing the right flowers for both the ceremony and the reception. If you are on a tight flower budget, the best thing to do would be to cut back on what you have at the actual ceremony, and spruce up the reception hall. The reason for this is quite simple; the reception lasts for several hours, whereas the ceremony isn't nearly as long. By spending most of your flower budget for pieces at the reception, they will be enjoyed for a much longer time period. This is not to say that you cannot have some at your ceremony as well. Just be picky when deciding where to spend the majority of your money.
To take this a step further, you may want to pick out floral arrangements that you can easily transport from the ceremony to the reception. By doing this you will only have to buy one set up of flowers, which will in turn cut your costs. This is one option that a lot of people overlook, but can save hundreds of dollars in the long run.
When it comes to the actual flowers, the most important aspect to most people is color. The good thing is that regardless of what you are looking for, you should not have a hard time finding it. There are hundreds of different types of flowers to choose from with all of them coming in different colors. Several factors may come into play when choosing which color flowers to have at your wedding. Just a few of these are: location, season, color of the bride's dress, wedding theme, and personal preference.
When choosing the size of your floral arrangements you will need to take into consideration the venue where they are going to be displayed. Whether you are having a religious or civil ceremony can be a factor. In many cases, churches, synagogues, and other places of worship are beautiful in their own right; so a few well-placed floral arrangements can make everything come together.
Couples marrying in a medium sized church should try to get two or three major displays as opposed to little ones that are scattered all over the place. This holds true particularly if you have a small flower budget. In most cases, if you have a bunch of small arrangements they are going to get lost in the crowd and nobody will be able to focus in on them. While bigger is often better, keep in mind that you are either going to have to transport the flowers yourself, or pay for somebody to do it for you. The bigger the arrangements the more difficult a time you are going to have with the transportation.
For people that have a lot of money to spend on flowers, the best way to decide what you need is to look at the church first. By doing this you can pick out the areas where you want to have flowers, and then buy arrangements that will fit accordingly.
When it comes to where to actually place the floral arrangements some people find themselves at a loss. As a rule of thumb, it is always nice to have some flowers at the entrance to the church to set the mood for the guests that will be arriving. Inside the church itself, you may want to set up the flowers around the alter and the aisle. If you are having an outdoor wedding, you will still want to follow this same basic format.
Before you start ordering flowers, you will need to make sure that you are allowed to have them in the venue. This may sound silly, but a lot of churches have their own flower arrangers, and bringing in outside arrangements is against the rules. If you are having a religious ceremony you should always check with the priest, rabbi, or minister to determine what you are and are not allowed to bring as far as flowers are concerned.
Turning any venue into the perfect atmosphere is easy with the right floral arrangements. Your options are endless so be sure to do your research before making any decisions.
