Vows Renewal Ceremony
Articles / / Vows Renewal Ceremony
For couples that have been married for a long time, a wedding vows renewal ceremony is something that they can do to show their love for each other. A wedding is one of the greatest days of anybody's life so why not have a vow renewal ceremony to bring back some of that magic? A wedding vow renewal ceremony is the perfect way to reflect on the past, and also look forward to the rest of your life together with your partner. Not everyone takes part in a wedding vow renewal ceremony during their marriage, but for some couples, it is definitely an option.
There are many reasons that couples look into renewing their vows. One of the most common is because they did not have the opportunity to have their dream wedding the first time around. Maybe they eloped, or had to cut costs due to a tight budget. No matter what the reason, for couples that did not get to have the wedding of their dreams, a vows renewal ceremony is second opportunity.
Other couples simply have a wedding vows renewal ceremony in order to show their undying affection for one another. In most cases, a wedding vow renewal ceremony takes place on a major anniversary, but this does not have to work out this way. You can renew your vows anytime you wish.
Unlike the first wedding, a wedding vows renewal ceremony does not have to be legally binding. At the same time it does not have to be ruled by a bunch of traditions, it is all about the couple, their personal preferences, and reflecting on their past and future together. The ceremony can be a long drawn out affair, or simply short and sweet. It is up to the couple to decide on what they want to do.
For the most part, the couple hosts the ceremony. They get everything set up, and make sure that all of the guests are invited. This time around the work is all on the couple!
The couple may want to exchange gifts with one another, but under no circumstances should they be expected from the guests. Some people may bring them on their own, but the couple should not be expecting to receive anything special. Although there are always exceptions, vow renewal ceremonies generally aren't occasions that you register for.
At the first wedding ceremony a couple exchanges rings to show their love and devotion for each other. At a wedding vows renewal ceremony two options are often popular as far as the rings are concerned. They can either opt to get new rings in addition to the ones that they already have, or use the originals. If using the originals, it could be nice to add embellishments, such as engravings, especially for the renewal ceremony. This is completely up to the couple, and in some cases the rings do not even need to be changed.
And of course your wedding vows renewal ceremony will have a reception afterwards - yet another excuse to party. This does not have to be a huge affair, but is a nice thing to have so that all of the guests can mingle, and a great way to thank your friends and loved ones for being there. At the reception toasts are made, cake is eaten, and people talk. From there, a second honeymoon may be in store for the couple.
While a wedding vow renewal ceremony is not right for every couple, if you never had the chance to have the wedding you wanted, or are simply looking to show your love for each other, it may be perfect for you.
