Are you on deck to deliver a speech at a wedding? If so, you are not alone. This is something that thousands of people have to do every year. And if you are nervous about it, you are again in the majority. The fact of the matter is that anytime you have to speak in front of a large group of people, especially at a wedding, you may have a few nerves. But there is some good news that goes along with having to make a wedding speech. If you are prepared you should not run into any problems that you cannot handle.

The first step in the preparation process is the actual planning of what you are going to say. You can start off by getting an idea of how long your wedding speech should be, and how it is focused on- an obvious, but important, step. After you have come to grips with who you are toasting, who you are gearing your words towards, the next step is to get some ideas as to what you want to say. Unfortunately, this sounds a bit easier than it actually is. You will want to make your wedding speech as good as possible, but there is a good chance that you may have difficulty finding the perfect words. This should be expected, and the key is to be able to work through this until you find the exact words that you are searching for.

The next thing is to begin the actual writing process. There is no right and wrong way to do this. Perhaps the best advice is to simply sit down with a pen and paper and just get started. Although this may be difficult at first, you may find that after some time you get into the zone and the words just come naturally. What ever happens, if you persevere, you should get there in the eventually.

One thing that you may want to remember when writing a wedding speech is that it should be as personal as possible. This will give the recipient as well as everyone else a great idea as to your feelings.

After you have a wedding speech in place that you think you like, put it away for a day or two. Then after not looking at it for a while, you can reread it and see if it still makes sense. There is a good chance that you may run into some areas that you would like to change, or some words that do not quite make sense. At this point you can change whatever you need, and then move forward with getting the final draft in place.

When the big day finally arrives, you are going to feel a bit nervous. And when the time comes to give your wedding speech, there is a good chance that you will be as tense as you have ever been. But remember one thing, when you start to talk you will probably become more and more comfortable. And as you become more comfortable your nerves will start to slowly drift away; this will work out to your favor.

One mistake that a lot of people make when giving a wedding speech is that they try to memorize it. Or worse yet they read directly from a piece of paper. You will want to avoid both of these at all costs. When giving your wedding speech you want it to have a sense of spontaneity. You want it to sound like you know what you are talking about, but you did not spend hours upon hours memorizing it word for word. And of course reading off of a piece of paper gives you away right from the start. Of course this does not mean that you should not read over your wedding speech several times. By doing this you will get a good feel for what you want to say. Just try to avoid memorizing every last word.

When it comes down to it wedding speeches are not as bad as they may seem. While you may be a bit nervous about the delivery, and have some problems starting the writing process, you will probably become more comfortable and confident as you proceed. As long as you give yourself enough time to get prepared and keep your cool you should get through your wedding speech without any issues.
