Are you having a hard time choosing a venue for your wedding? If so, you are not alone. This is an issue that a lot of couples have to deal with. But the good thing is that if you work together you should not have any problems getting to the bottom of things. It may just seem like a lot of work because there are a lot details that actually go into choosing a venue.

Historically, the wedding usually takes place in the bride's home town. Of course this is not always the case, but generally speaking this is the status quo. For couples that are from the same area this is never a problem because both parties home town is the same place. The problem comes into play when two people are from completely different areas. This does not necessarily have to be a problem, but travel arrangements will definitely have to be taken into consideration before you move forward.

Over the years, the tradition of getting married in the bride's home town started to fade into the background. Even though it is still quite common to get married in the bride's town, it is also perfectly acceptable to hold the event in the groom's home town. In addition, some couples decide to get married in the town that they met, or where they currently live. This can be both an advantage and disadvantage. As far as benefits are concerned there will be no arguing as far as where to hold the ceremony, etc. But on the opposite side of things this may mean that a lot of family will have to travel. These are all things that you must take into consideration before you decide on a location for your wedding.

Another consideration when choosing a venue is how many people you are going to invite. If you only plan on having a small wedding for family it may be best to have it at an area where the majority of people can make it without having to travel too far. But on the other hand if you are planning a large-scale wedding with hundreds of guests it is going to be extremely difficult to cater to everybody's needs. The fact of the matter is that as you invite more guests the ability to meet the needs of every person is going to become increasingly more difficult.

The actual ceremony and reception venues will also have to be chosen after a location is decided on. Again, this can be a difficult choice due to the large number of options that are available. This is particularly true if you area having a wedding at a neutral location because you may not be as familiar with the area as you are in your home town.

Again, your wedding guest list will greatly sway where you have your ceremony and reception. If you are only having a few guests you can pretty much choose any area that you please. But as you start inviting more people it will become essential that you make sure the areas you are booking can hold all of the guests.

A big decision that must be made has to do with whether or not you want an indoor or outdoor wedding. There are pros and cons to both. First off, you can only have an outdoor wedding if the time of the year is conducive. In other words you cannot have an outdoor wedding in December if it is going to be extremely cold. In addition, you will also have to realize that during the summer months outdoor weddings can be extremely hot; sometimes to the point of discomfort.

There are also some inherent problems that go along with an outdoor wedding. Having the weather cooperate is obviously one of the biggest issues that you must take into consideration. In addition, make sure that you take the parking situation into consideration. If you are having a big wedding and reception you need to make sure that there is enough room for you and your guests to park at the venue. Also, do not forget things such as lighting and bathrooms.

In some cases outdoor weddings may appear to be cheaper than the indoor variety because you will not have to pay for a reception hall. This can be true, but just make sure that you watch out for hidden costs. Things such as permits and generators can quickly up the cost of any outdoor wedding. Never have an outdoor wedding because you think that you can save money; do it because you are interested in the beauty that it can bring to the day.
