Planning a wedding can be a lot of fun. But at the same time, there is another planning process that you have to undertake as well. That is right; you need to plan your honeymoon. Planning a honeymoon can be great fun, and of course when the time actually comes to leave you will be overjoyed. Unfortunately, planning a honeymoon can be almost as detail oriented as planning an actual wedding. For this reason you will need to get started well in advance with the planning process. This way you will not forget any major details, and you can be ensured of having a good time.

When it comes to who should plan a honeymoon the answer is simple; both the bride and the groom. Simply put, planning a honeymoon is not a one person job. You will need to work with your partner in order to ensure that they agree with you as far as all of the details are concerned. After all, a honeymoon is supposed to be fun. And in order to ensure this both the bride and the groom need to agree on all of the details. Everything from when, where, and how, should be discussed well in advance.

The first decision that you need to make when planning your honeymoon is where you will go. Do you want to head to a tropical destination? Or would you rather go sightseeing on your honeymoon? The choice is up to you and your partner. The good thing is that there are so many places to go that you should be able to agree on a destination without much trouble at all. Just think about all the honeymoon destinations in the world that you can. Even if you think that you know all of your options you are probably forgetting quite a few.

After you have made a decision on where to go on your honeymoon, you next need to decide on how you are going to get there. Obviously there are some destinations that you will probably have to fly to, while with others you may be able to drive or even take a boat to your honeymoon destination. This is a decision that you will need to make along with your partner.

If you are having a hard time planning your honeymoon on your own, you do have some options available to you. First and foremost you will want to perform a lot of research on the different destinations that are available. The best way to do this is by going online and checking out all of the sites that have information on honeymoons, as well as destinations. There are literally thousands of sites like this so make sure that you have plenty of time to at least view a large number of the better ones.

Additionally, you can also get the help of a travel agency. This way you will be able to work with a professional when planning your honeymoon. They can give you information on destinations, as well as many other details. Not to mention the fact that a travel agency can book flights for you, and also set you up with a hotel in the area you are traveling to. This takes a lot of stress off of you, and allows you to concentrate on other areas that may be more important.

There is a timeline that you can follow in order to ensure that your honeymoon goes off without a hitch. Of course a general timeline will not work for every couple, but all in all it will at least give you a good idea as to what you should do, and when you should do it.

The first step should take place about six to eight months before you decide on a honeymoon date. During this step you will look into the available destinations, and then make a decision on where you will go. You can make this decision by getting help from your family and friends, as well as researching on your own. The most important thing to remember is that you should agree with your partner on the destination.

When you get to four months away you will want to start making some of the final decisions. You can do this on your own or with the help of a travel agent. This is when you will want to book a flight and hotel, and take care of other details such as a car rental, etc. By getting the help of a travel agent you may be able to cut down on a lot of the work that you have to do on your own. Many people like this idea because they can then concentrate more on the wedding planning, and less on the honeymoon side of things.

At three months make sure that everything is ready to go. You can confirm reservations, and send any necessary deposits. This way you will know that everything is in place, and you can stop worrying. If any details are wrong at this stage be sure to get them corrected right away. This will ensure that you do not run into any problems down the road as the honeymoon date begins to close in.

About one month before your honeymoon you will want to start getting all of your stuff together. This includes things such as luggage, a camera, clothes, any many other items. It is best if you make a check list at this time so that you do not forget anything. By starting to get your stuff together a month in advance you will be ensured of not forgetting anything that is essential. Some people like to wait until the last minute to pack, but this is a bad idea. If you do this you are risking forgetting an important item.

When one week or so closes in you will need to make sure that you have every last detail in place. You will want to make one final confirmation of reservations, and also make sure that you have everything packed that you will need. At this point you may also want to get your money gathered as well

As you can see, planning a honeymoon takes a lot of time. There are many key details that you must remember. As long as you give yourself enough time to adequately plan, you will not run into any problems. Remember, your honeymoon is something that you will always remember. Do your best to plan for success.
