It is customary for the bride to select their sisters or the groom's sisters to serve as bridesmaids. In addition, other relatives can be chosen as well. However, more recently, the bride is choosing bridesmaids that are friends. This does not mean that they are leaving their family out, but adding more close friends is becoming more of a trend.

When it comes down to how many bridesmaids you can have, the choice is yours. There is no set rule for this, so it is up to you to make a decision on what you think is best. As a general rule of thumb, if you are having a small wedding you will not have a lot of bridesmaids. But on the other hand, large weddings often times mean a bigger bridal party.

In most cases, one of the bridesmaid duties is to attend the majority of the social functions that are carried out before the wedding. This includes things such as the bridal shower and rehearsal. In addition, bridesmaids may also stand in the receiving line following the wedding.

When it comes to choosing the bridesmaids gowns it is the bride's decision on what they wear. But most brides like to have the help of the bridesmaids so that everybody is comfortable on the day of the wedding. Plus, it is always helpful to have a few people making the decision with you. They may see things that you miss and vice versa. Just remember to listen to their ideas. You have them as bridesmaids because you are all friends and you value their opinion. And remember, the overall decision in the end rests with you.

Your bridesmaids can also be very helpful when it comes to some of the small details and errands that you will need help with. Traditionally, they help out with things such as sending out invitations and making sure that the wedding cake is delivered on time and ready to be served.

When you are giving out bridesmaid duties, make sure that you are as fair as possible. You do not want to give one person a lot of things to do, while a couple of others simply sit back and watch. Of course, if some of the bridesmaids live out of town they will not be able to help, but dividing tasks as evenly as possible is very important.

Overall, bridesmaids are important to the wedding. Even if they are not fully involved in every aspect like the honor attendant, they are still quite important in the long run. Make sure that you choose bridesmaids in accordance with who you are close to, the size of your wedding, and overall finances. This will allow you and your bridesmaids to have the time of your life!
